It’s never too early to begin thinking about your costume! Recently was super sold out and everybody had a blast. More details ahead in the next few months, but here’utes a tantalizing image to acquire excited.

I once acquired dinner with Saint Motel, hours before seeing these people deliver a delicious pop spectacle to an overpacked crowd at the Viper Room. What I learned around dinner was this: 1) they’re hilarious 2) they all visited film school together Three) they joke around like brothers, and their love for each other is only more apparent once they share the stage 4) these people take their career seriously, but nonetheless seem to have more fun playing than any band I can consider.

Their genuine enthusiasm has been noted by Jason Bentley this morning, when he hosted this guitar rock band for a live set about Morning Becomes Eclectic. I’ve been spinning their EP “ForPlay” for a long time now and I never get sick of hearing the tracks they played this morning – “Butch,” “To Our Enemies,” “Dear Dictator” – and they treated all of us to a bunch of new songs that have not yet been recorded, including one simply called “Untitled New Song.” Other newbies — “Funny Mind,” “At Least I Have Nothing,” as well as — my favorite — “Stories” (which really shows off AJ Jackson’s excellent vocals) all maintain the power pop punch which makes them stand out as one of the nearly all promising bands in Los Angeles. I cannot say enough good things about this band!

They will recently toured with Band of Skulls and don’t seem to be slowing down soon. Catch them live if you can — they play the Bootleg this specific Saturday — and check out their overall performance here. (the video will be upward soon and is worth awaiting)

The release from a new Neil Young album is definitely cause for celebration, as he remains to be the most consistently note-worthy artist on a regular basis producing records over the past 40+ a long time.

What makes his newest recording, Le Noise, even more unique is the contributions from maker Daniel Lanois, who brings his Grammy Award-winning feel to Young’s inimitable style.

At heart, your record is almost skeletally simple: Youthful alone, singing and actively playing a guitar on 8 new tracks.  But Lanois’ creation opens a wide sonic vista which takes the songs to another stage, blending electronic and acoustic elements with Young’s own effective performances.  The lead track, “Walk when camping,” exemplifies their technique: a new slashing, chiming guitar-line breaks down into a humming drone, while Young’s pleading vocals stream into the musical horizon.  It’s influencing stuff from two grasp craftsmen meshing their talents correctly.

The Walkmen driven all night from Las Vegas to get rid of their West Coast manage with a live performance on Day Becomes Eclectic today.

They treated us to a list of songs from their new lp “Lisbon,” which is one of my favorites of year. The first time I listened to this, I was sitting on a beach checking ocean and it was a best fit for Hamilton Leithauser’s always outstanding vocals – heavy with all types of emotion.

Watching from Grasp Control with Jason Bentley as well as Eric J Lawrence, we all agreed that he’s one of our favorite rock frontmen. She has a distinct cool and style in the performance, but it never appears like a constructed stage identity – he’s really feeling it! “Angela Search City” is the best example and one in the standouts from this morning.

Also, My partner and i checked The Walkmen’s page on KCRW.com to find this remark from Rui Dias:  “I’ve just quit by to let the guys are aware that Portugal is listening to KCRW as well as the Walkmen. A big shout out from Lisbon!!! Rock and roll on, guys!”Love it!

Ruined

KCRW DJ Jeremy Lone will be spinning a set of Cameras music at the Geffen Playhouse this particular Wednesday as part of the opening nighttime festivities for the Pulitzer Prize-winning drama “Ruined.”Sole is often a master of all kinds of entire world music, which he plays on a regular basis on his weekly KCRW demonstrate, among many other things, plus his many residencies around town, such as my personal favorite – Afro-Funké on Thursdays at Zanzibar.

The particular play takes place in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and features two reside musicians onstage (a guitarist and also a drummer) playing African tunes throughout the play.  The music is essential in creating a sense of spot and those musicians might even sign up for Jeremy as part of his after-show set.

Darker My Love came out two new songs mainly for KCRW today as part of their live show on Morning Becomes Diverse – the Bob Dylan-esque “Rain Down South” along with “Tis A Great Art To Saunter.” Other set was filled out together with song’s from the LA band’s latest relieve on Dangerbird Records, “Alive as You Are.”Darker My own Love intrigues me as a music group because each of their last a few albums are so different from each other. Singer/guitarist Tim Presley told Jason Bentley which “Alive As You Are” marked a restoration for the band. He says they provided the record they always wanted to make without compromise.

This rock band recorded in San Francisco’s legendary Hyde Road Studios where Creedence Clearwater Revival as well as the Grateful Dead laid down classic albums. I’m an unabashed lover of the Dead and I’m thrilled that their rootsy psychedelia seems to have already been a big influence on the new tracks.

This is the sort of album that makes me proud to live around the West Coast, as it entirely captures our vibe.

I don’big t know if it’s possible for a country on an Official Music Genre, but when so Australia’s would definitely be disco.

It was, after all, their ancient sons The Bee Gees that brought this style of music out of the subway urban clubs and onto your grandmother’s hi-fi back in the 70′s.  Recently, an electronically-charged version of disco continues to be championed by such Aussie acts as The Avalanches, Cut Copy & Kingdom of the Sun and famous labels like Modular.

Melbourne-outfit Miami Hoor continue that rich traditions and have released a brand new dancefloor traditional, “Illumination,” arguably the best electronic disco document since Hercules & Love Affair’s debut.

This guitar rock band has honed their grinds opening up for Phoenix, Friendly Fires & Lilly Allen and it shows… whether it is the exhilarating crowd-pleaser “Holidays” or the hot-and-cold pulse associated with “I Look To You” — the latter sound like a cross between Chic as well as Saint Etienne, which makes for the most sexy dancefloor come-on you’ll hear all year.  Ohio Hoor’s Illumination is an incontrovertible, feel-good dance record for those of us that aren’t ready regarding summer to be over.

“Sadly, it was on this day, 40 years ago, that Jimi Hendrix passed away. As with the truly great John Coltrane, they both passed away at very young ages, Hendrix younger than Coltrane but all the same, we’re going to never know what could have been. Fortunately, Jimi Hendrix was one hard working guru and was a good way directly into finishing what was going to be their next album, so we acquire songs like Freedom, Astro Gentleman and In From The Storm. That which you don’t get is the result of a possible meeting of Hendrix as well as Miles Davis in the studio along with what that could have been. Interpol performed a personal, intimate show in front of just 150 people for KCRW about the eve of the release of their new self-titled album earlier this few days and the 8-song set is now upward in our archives and entirely on demand! The slow creating, epic “Lights” was one of the illustrates.

They not only debuted new songs but a new fall into line – with the addition of Dave Pajo (Slint,Yeah Yep Yeahs) and Brandon Curtis (Secret Machines) following a departure of bassist Carlos D.

In an interview with KCRW Music Director Jason Bentley (you can read the transcript at KCRW.com), Singer Robert Banks said it was an amicable split and they all saw it coming.

“It wasn’t consequently sudden. In a band just like ours, we’re all truly open with each other. It’s rather like being in a relationship – there’azines always signs.  It’s really just kind of like that.  I don’t think we were shocked. Clearly, disappointed — he’s a great man.”They also talked about the impact of New York City on the music:

Paul Banks: “I believe when taking time out of New York City and then coming back to this you realize that it’s just this type of hyper-stimulating place and I think it just revs you up – not always in a good way.  But I think that our music does reflect in a way, that kind of like, a lot of stimulation.  There’s a lot of grit in Nyc too.  It’s definitely just like a pace – a pace factor that is cranked.”Drummer Sam Fogarino: “Don’t you are feeling that after having spent a great deal time there, that you have it deep within you?  We could have written this specific record in Tahiti – it all turns into a state of mind, you know.  New York simply leaves such an imprint – that you just can’t – you can leave for years and yes it just doesn’t go away.  There’s always a lot to draw on, from that imprint. Dark imprint.”  (laughter)

The group’s new album marks coming back to the indie label that launched them, Matador, and tag founder Chris Lombardi was in presence at the show, as was actress Catherine Keener who is a huge enthusiast of the band. The functionality was recorded in the personal studio of legendary producer Bob Clearmountain as part of KCRW’s Berkeley Street Sessions.
