Today’s article can be on a subject not far from my heart. I’ve been recently debating if I need to write this with regard to weeks now, yet after talking with other girls of color in the lingerie industry along with doing a bit of soul-searching myself, We have decided there’s no method I can’t not article this. The Lingerie Enthusiast is about all aspects with the lingerie community, the parts I don’t really like.

Awhile back, I had any conversation with yet another woman of coloration in the industry (who would rather remain anonymous), and he or she asked me flat out, Let’s lingerie companies make use of black models…especially in retro lingerie? After considering it over, I realized this issue had not been limited to black females; all women of color are underrepresented in corset lingerie. Hispanic, African-American, Asian, Native National…it doesn’t matter. When was the last time you saw a woman of coloration modeling on your favorite lingerie website?

We realize (or at least I hope we all know) that beauty comes in all colors, just as it is made in all shapes and sizes. So let’s lingerie retailers, creative designers, and photographers change up their literal portfolios? It’s reached where I’m surprised when I see a model of color (pleasantly surprised, yet surprised all the same) along with, quite frankly, that’s only sad. Seeing a beautiful woman of color modeling lingerie shouldn’t be a shock or a rarity, it must so happen so frequently I barely detect it.

What do you think will be the problem here? Are generally there just not enough models of color? Is the corset lingerie industry biased? Do people (mistakenly) believe that women of color just don’t look good within or appreciate fine lingerie? I’m really interested in hearing your thoughts. I request myself that problem all the time. Although Let me say that Victoria’s Secret offers always had a minumum of one. Few others can same the identical. Do they think that we will not love & wear corset lingerie as much as our counterparts associated with other races??? ~Madison

Well, when it comes to small businesses, whom can’t go through organization to book professional designs but rather go the actual semi-pro route, like in my case, I really ought to say that models of colors are a rare gem. If you can book the model for 500-1, ~Sophie

So true! It’s seldom seen. And it could not make any sense. Their ought to be more lingerie models of shade out there! I was on the CurveNY Expo and there was a real gorgeous girl acting lingerie – and yes it made me wonder why are not there more! ~Jenny
